Sunday September 7, 2008 - FIGHT GONE BAD

Lately I have really been thinking about Fight Gone Bad. A lot of affiliates are training specifically to work on reps for the nationwide event on September 27/28. The last time I did FGB was July 1 up at Crossfit Loudon-Dulles for Jacob's last day. That was the second time I completed the workout and got a score of 311. Based on that my goal for September 27/28 was 350. A good feasible goal. I mean 400+ is elite athlete type numbers.

With all that being said I was kind of pumped when I saw FGB on the board yesterday. I figured it would be a good time to see where I was and figure out how I could get 350 at the end of the month. Here is what FGB is:

Total Reps/Calories

Three rounds of:
Wall-ball 20lb - 10 ft target (Reps)
Kettlebell high-pull, 70lb=M (Reps)
Box Jump, 20″ box (Reps)
Push-press, 75lb=M (Reps)
Row (Calories)

Each exercise is for a minute and then there is one minute rest in between rounds, similar to a MMA fight.

I tend to go through a lot of details when I describe my workouts but bottom line was it felt good. First, Stuart was a great partner. He pushed me each exercise and kept me on target with the time. I knew box jumps are the biggest exercise I can and need to improve on to rattle off reps so I focused on those. Other than that I just pushed it. I felt like I did and felt good after the workout. Needless to say I was shocked when I scored a 346! I PR'd by 35 and was only 4 reps off my goal for the end of the month. I was so happy with my performance.

I guess with being so close to my goal I decided to re-evaluate my goal and want to shoot for 375 at the end of the month. Jerry is planning on doing WODs that will improve everyone's scores so I definitely think it is doable.

FGB involves alot of strategy so I will be working on that, here are my scores for the 3 rounds:
